We began this construction observing the international plan, trying to understand, on the one hand, some contexts that helped to give a configuration to the current programs and menus of the disciplines and, on the other hand, how was the incorporation of the themes of the LA in the first foreign didactic books.
First, we describe the motivations of the research as well as the type of historical source used to develop it. In a second moment, we made a survey of the first signs of its emergence and of some contexts that helped to establish LA as a discipline in other countries, and then we did an analysis about how its contents were being incorporated into the first textbooks.
We conclude that initially AL was present in textbooks of Modern Algebra AM and that, gradually, there was a movement of detachment, generating independent LA texts, although still today, in many texts, this pattern persists.
In addition, since its inception, AL has always been frequented by several types of professionals, thus generating a direction for applications, both in research in this area and in its teaching, detaching itself from the algebraic character that is oriented in a structuralist tendency.
